Dialog, Still Life Paintings by Grady Williams

Serra Mesa- Kearny Mesa Branch Public Library | Dec. 1, 2008 – Jan. 31, 2009

“I use fruit in place of human characters to make uncomfortable dialog more approachable.” Local artist Grady Williams describes his body of work which will be exhibited at the Serra Mesa-Kearny Mesa Branch Public Library from December 1st through January 31st. Much more than quiet paintings of fruits on tabletops, each work of art contains an underlying dialog discussing sensitive social issues. Manipulation of shape, color and the placement of objects are highly deliberate as they are intended to convey messages which are left to the viewers to “hear”. However, viewers are invited to develop their own interpretations.

The opening reception will be held on Saturday, December 6th from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at the Serra Mesa-Kearny Mesa Branch Public Library. Admission is free and refreshments and snacks will be provided.

William’s series of still life paintings represent just one side of this dynamic artist. He is also an accomplished commercial artist graduating from the prestigious Art Center College of Design and working for Midway Home Entertainment and Sony Computer Entertainment. He stays busy with the management of his own art resource company, Amusin Myself Productions.
